Servicing the Bay Area since 1949

Welcome

Elite Tree Service is a family owned and operated company that has been caring for the trees in the Bay Area since 1949.  For every job our goal is to understand your wants and needs, then explain options and recommendations as to what may best fit your situation and trees' needs. The Bay Area is our home and as such we strive to treat every client as our neighbor and every tree as our own.

Seasonal Care Tips:

  • Dormant Pruning

Dormant pruning is important for the longevity of your mature plants, trees, and shrubs. By cutting back weak and dead branches during the winter months, your plants will be better protected against diseases, damage in harsh weather, and will come back healthier and fuller in the spring!

  • Winter Tree Planting

The Bay Area's mild winter climate is uniquely suited for tree planting. The cooler temperatures and frequent rainfall provide ideal conditions for tree root establishment, allowing trees to develop strong root systems before the onset of warmer, drier months.

This climate also minimizes the risk of frost damage and root damage from freeze-thaw cycles, setting the stage for vigorous tree growth and survival.

  • Mulch

In late fall or early winter, add a 2–4 inch layer of organic mulch, like wood chips or bark, around the base of the tree. Mulch insulates the roots and soil, and reduces water loss. Don't pile mulch directly against the trunk.

  • Water

Water trees well, especially newly planted ones, through fall until the ground freezes. Overwatering can be harmful.

  • Inspect

In late winter, inspect trees for damage, such as dead, diseased, or damaged branches.

  • Cable The Unstable Parts of The Tree

Winter storms are hazardous for trees and neighboring properties. Consult the services of an arborist to determine whether trees on your property pose any danger to vehicles and structures in your compound. Cabling can also help in curbing excessive shedding of twigs and leaves during summer.

Monterey Pine trimming season:

November-March is optimal for trimming Monterey Pine trees as it minimizes stress on the tree by pruning while it's dormant, reduces the risk of bark beetle infestation, and allows for better wound healing during the colder months when insects are less active; essentially, it's the most optimal time for the tree to recover from pruning cuts
